ABOUT PNWAS
Pacific Northwest Archaeological Society (PNWAS-Society) , a non-profit corporation, was established in 1985 (federal tax ID 91-1344856) to provide public education and archaeological and cultural resources services. The Pacific Northwest Archaeological Services (PNWAS-Services), a for-profit corporation, was established in 2012 (federal tax ID 46-1378893) to provide regional archaeological surveys and formal site testing/excavation with professionally trained and certified staff. We work closely with the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation to assist clients in compliance of Section 106 of the NHPA; NEPA; SEPA; NAGPRA and Governor’s Executive Order 05-05. We also work closely with Tribal Nations, and have participated in projects with the Nisqually Indian Tribe, Quinault Indian Nation, Chehalis Tribe, and the Quileute Nation.
Pacific Northwest Archaeological Services (PNWAS) provides a broad range of cultural resources services including regional archaeological surveys, formal site testing and report writing. PNWAS also offers artifact analysis, as well as cleaning, conservation, identification and laboratory analysis of perishable wood and plant fiber artifacts and macroflora. We specialize in microscopic identification by cellular analysis of archaeological wood, plant material and charcoal. Professional reports are provided as part of our services.
